Ganga of Rajapur
Ganga is a holy river in Rajapur taluka of Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra state of India. Rajapur is a taluka in the Ratnagiri District in the Konkan region of Maharashtra State in India. It was one of the famous market in historical times. The great king Shivaji had visited this historical place. It was a safe port in the konkan area. It is on the banks of Arjuna river. British colony was there. The famous temple of Dhutpapeshwar is also in this city. There is also a river named Ganga in Rajapur. It is called Rajapur Ganga. There are 14 ponds (kundas) which suddenly get filled with the flowing water. The water flows there for three months and goes back suddenly as it comes. This happens after every three years. But as an exception, sometimes this happens in the next following year too. But this is rare. There are hot water's small ponds called zare in local language at Unhale village of Rajapur.
